

Overview
The purpose of this week is to encourage and influence you to release yourself from the effects of traumatic events that were out of your control. This will help you gain understanding and come to the realization—obstacles are a part of our growth. The more we grow, the more we break through the mental chains that keeps us stuck in our feelings and not in our healing. Although we may not have the power to control the things, people, and situations around us; we can most definitely control the way we react to lessen the side effect of positive energy depletion. Oftentimes, we attempt to justify our actions with, “because he did this…” or “because she did that…” However, that doesn’t excuse us from the consequences. Therefore, it is important for us to practice self-control, no matter the cost.
Focus for the week: “I Am in Control of Myself!”
Pay close attention to your thoughts in every situation. When you are having negative thoughts, become consciously aware of those thoughts. Once aware, shift your focus on something positive. For instance, if you and your significant other were about to have a disagreement, you want to make yourself aware of the negative thoughts and feelings you are having at that exact moment. The impact of this is: (1) You’re going to be excited from knowing you’ve just stopped yourself in mid-thought to become conscious of your thoughts, (2) You maintain control over your thoughts and emotions through your intention to shift your thinking to something more positive. One way to do this is to think of the last funny thing you seen, heard, or read. This is where you will shift your thinking. If you really want to shift your thinking, just think about your
